Pagosa Springs, CO

The clear blue waters of Hatcher Reservoir are striking against the distant snow capped mountains. But it wasn’t always that way. “We had a big problem with blue-green algae blooms,” said Art Holloman. So the district installed two SolarBee® 10000 v12 water circulators in 2005. Those units did such a great job they placed three more in the reservoir in 2008. The SolarBees cleaned up all those nasty blooms and really helped to lower the source water Total Organic Compounds (TOC). And now, Pagosa Springs saves a fortune on copper sulfate and activated carbon filters. “Since SolarBee got a hold of the lake,” Art says, “the water quality improved dramatically.” In fact, the district was so impressed, they installed SolarBees in each of their three water tanks – where they provide thorough mixing and virtually eliminate temperature stratification and water stagnation. SolarBee eliminates something else too: Customer complaints about water taste and odor.
